For a trip through the popular sailing area of the IJsselmeer is the NL3 the right choice. Once you have passed one of the lock gates, nothing stands in the way of an eventful trip. The IJsselmmeer does not have strong tides like other Dutch areas (for example Waddenzee), but strong winds are still to be expected. In addition, attention should be paid to the numerous fishing nets in the IJsselmeer.

The region is characterized by charming little fishing villages, historical coastal towns and old towns, long sandy beaches and many sheep on the green dykes. There is also no shortage of harbours in the Ijsselmeer, some places offer several ones. The larger harbours of Lemmer, Lelystad, Enkhuizen, Hindeloopen and the northern part of Amsterdam in particular offer many opportunities for stopovers. In general, a detour to the capital with its numerous canals is highly recommended!
