Optimist buoyancy bag 48L with twist lock tube valve

Made of polyurethane-coated nylon, these Optimist floatation bags are about half the weight and considerably stronger than floatation bags made of PVC or PVC-coated nylon. Some bags are available with a twist lock valve. This valve is attached to a piece of hose. With this valve, the bag can be easily and quickly inflated and deflated. 48-litre bags are slightly heavier than 43-litre bags but after capsizing, there is a lot less water in the boat.

Be careful not to inflate the Optimist buoyancy bags too hard.

When buoyancy bags are well filled, they feel soft. Optimist buoyancy bags that have been inflated too hard can leak when heated by the sun or rising temperatures.

When mounting, make sure that no sharp points come up against the buoyancy bags.
