Hydrographic charts in the 1800 series are intended for professional and recreational navigation.

Each atlas contains a legend with all abbreviations and symbols found on this chart. The charts have a different colour scheme and symbolisation than the nautical charts with regard to lights, light sectors, buoyage, beaconing, etc. but in essence hardly differ from international standards.

They also contain a lot of additional information for specific target groups and recreational sailors.
