Fishtek Dolphin Orca Anti-Depredation Pinger

Damage or removal of captured fish from fishing gear (depredation) can result in catch loss or a decrease in its economic value and often damages the fishing gear. In some fisheries, the use of alerting devices (deterrent pingers) have been successful in reducing dolphin depredation.

The pinger proved to be an effective way to chase away orcas. The developer (Fishtek Marine) recommends using 2 at a time. This results in a signal of such high intensity that the working is optimal.

In case of a suspected attack, place them overboard on both sides to a depth of between 2-5 mtr. Towing is possible, but with a final weight of approx. 5 kg. This is only possible without too much wind so that the pingers remain underwater!
