Actisense NGX-1 NMEA 2000 Gateway & PC Interface - USB

The Actisense NGX-1 is an intelligent multifunction gateway that combines NMEA 2000 PC interfacing and bidirectional NMEA 0183 to NMEA 2000 conversion in one compact device. It combines the functionality of the previous Actisense NGT-1 and NGW-1 generations, making it a flexible solution for both new marine electronics installations and refits.

Connect NMEA 2000 to a PC

The NGX-1 can provide an interface between an NMEA 2000 network and a compatible onboard computer. It transfers NMEA 2000 data to and from the PC, allowing compatible chartplotter, navigation, monitoring and diagnostic software to access vessel data.

It can also be used with Actisense NMEA Reader for NMEA 2000 network diagnostics and with Actisense Toolkit for configuration and firmware updates of supported Actisense equipment.

NMEA 0183 to NMEA 2000 conversion

The ISO version provides bidirectional conversion between NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000.

This makes the NGX-1 particularly useful for refits where existing NMEA 0183 equipment such as GPS, wind or depth instruments needs to communicate with a modern NMEA 2000 network.

The conversion engine supports a wide range of data conversions, including AIS.

Two versions available

The NGX-1 is available in two configurations:

• NGX-1-USB – equipped with an integrated USB cable for connecting an NMEA 2000 network to a PC

• NGX-1-ISO – equipped with an open-ended cable for connection to NMEA 0183, RS232 or RS422 equipment

This allows the appropriate version to be selected according to the installation.

Electrical isolation

The USB version provides galvanic isolation between the NMEA 2000 network and USB connection.

The ISO version features an OPTO-isolated input and Actisense ISO-Drive output, providing electrical isolation between the NMEA 2000 and serial interfaces.

Both isolation systems are Hi-Pot tested to 1000V.

Advanced configuration and diagnostics

Using Actisense Toolkit, transmit and receive lists and transmission rates can be configured for compatible applications.

The NGX-1 also features multiple diagnostic LEDs and supports Fast Heading data at 10Hz.

Designed for marine installations

The NGX-1 is NMEA 2000 Certified and meets the relevant NMEA 0183 IEC 61162-1 and IEC 61162-2 requirements.

Its IP67-rated housing provides protection for installation in demanding marine environments.
